Ford’s Green Initiative Is Something To Be Thankful For

Ford is playing a major role in the utilization of environmentally friendly auto parts. Ford uses plastic water bottles that are recycled into parts for cars, trucks, and SUVs. From recycling bin to underbody skin; Ford uses about 1.2 billion recycled plastic bottles per year, which amounts to 250 bottles per vehicle!

When the plastic bottles are recycled, they are shredded into small pieces that are sold to suppliers. The suppliers turn the pieces into a fiber textile process and use this to make a sheet of material – which is formed into automotive parts.

The all-new 2020 Ford Escape is built with a recycled plastic underbody shield to protect the engine. This ideal lightweight shield allows for a significantly quieter environment while driving. Who doesn’t want something that protects your car while also being environmentally conscious?

Ford is among the leaders when it comes to recycled materials. By pursuing green initiatives, Ford is assisting in the reduction of plastic waste in vulnerable ecosystems, like our oceans. It is important to discuss with friends and family ways to contribute to a green lifestyle and share how you recycle. Here are some examples of ways to start: use paper over plastic, purchase reusable grocery bags, use energy consciously and recycle your plastic water bottles.
