Ford’s Commitment to Sustainable Driving
We believe we have a role to play in protecting the planet. That means we focus on reducing the emissions from our vehicles, operating world-class, sustainability-focused facilities and helping our suppliers reduce their impact on the world. How do we do this? Great question.
The father of Ford, Henry Ford, dreamed big dreams. But he didn’t stop at dreaming—he was a doer. That’s something we pride ourselves on today. Our goal is to use 100 percent renewable energy for all manufacturing plants globally by 2035. By 2030, we will eliminate single-use plastics from all of our operations and make zero water withdrawals for manufacturing processes. .
We are constantly asking ourselves questions like: Can we move society closer to a circular economy? Together, we play an integral role in answering that question positively. Our scientists have worked around the clock to replace petroleum-based plastics with bio-based materials and agricultural by-products. As the first automaker to use soybean-based foam and composites derived from wheat, rice, castor, hibiscus, tree cellulose, jute and coconut, we feel confident we will reach each of our goals to better provide for generations to come.
